This signed, Chocolate version of "Donuts" features a food van, reminiscent of those found in street food markets worldwide, adorned with a massive, oversized donut. Guarding this peculiar cargo is a motorcade of sharply dressed American police officers, appearing stern and serious. The artwork blends layers of meaning with humour. It satirises the stereotype linking American police officers with donuts, prompting reflection on their role and value as they safeguard this sweet indulgence.
The portrayal playfully questions whether their motto might humorously be "Protect and serve me another donut, maybe?" Moreover, the composition's farcical nature invites contemplation about the allocation of police resources and time, and the potentially self-serving tendencies of those in positions of authority. It was released as part of a series of 299 signed prints, a number chosen in reference to Krispy Kreme Doughnuts’ financial struggles in 2007, which led to the closure of 299 stores.
